Gosh it’s been ages since I put virtual pen to paper. It’s been a busy Summer with the return of Eyam Carnival and an appearance by us at Chatsworth Food Fair which was great fun and brilliant to meet other local businesses and showcase our bakes.
Now we’re well and truly welcoming in Autumn and my short drive home tonight was beautiful - the woods above Eyam are the most stunning colours.
We’ve been blessed with clear skies and mild days and have been able to replant our herb planters and refurbish our outside seating. None of this would have been possible without help from some of our fabulous customers who lent their time, expertise & in some cases tools! Thank you 😊.
While the world around us seems increasingly chaotic, I find great comfort in concentrating on the small stuff in our cosy corner of the Peak District. This often involves cooking and making, and the comforting pattern of work and home life.
The morning routine of getting our scone bake on (have you tried the new chocolate orange flavour?), prepping soups, and testing recipes is soothing and familiar.
We’re on the trail of the perfect cookie and testing Autumn warmers - watch out for our special Black Forest Gateau Hot Chocolate!
Moving from salad veg, to roots and spice is refreshing at this time of year. Expect to see a return of our lentil dhal and chilli beef & veggie bean chilli one-pots.
Our Autumn menu has seen a few tweaks - a few extra options for children including cheesy quesadillas (our boys loved these when they were small) - we hope you like it.
If you’re getting ahead of the game for 🎄(too early?) we’ve a gorgeous selection of cards and new stock is arriving all the time. New books & jigsaws will appear next week, we’ve a lovely new candle stockist in Olive & B, and have restocked local Aran weight wool from Moorlands farm.
For the coffee lovers amongst you, you can now pick up the perfect Sunday morning coffee for filter/cafetière - Darkwoods Good Morning Sunshine. Available in 250g retail bags.
It’s never too early to place your Xmas food orders - all the usual suspects - mince pies, quiche, soups & tarts to get ahead for the freezer, whisky fruit cake (iced or plain) and Welbeck Xmas puddings.
Email us or pop in to discuss.
As ever we thank all of you for the brilliant support you give our family business and I’d like to thank my really wonderful team for all their hard work & ideas.
Take care everyone & see you soon,
Sarah x
