I’m typing this in slightly stormy Scotland from our family holiday on the Isle of Islay. We are half-way through and although the weather has taken a dip, the scenery, beach walks with Sunshine (our gorgeous Flattie) and whisky-tasting are seeing us through!
We’re so excited to have made it to the final of the Muddy Stilettos Notts and Derbyshire awards (cafe category). We only made it through to the final with great support from our lovely Customers so it would be amazing if you can vote again in this final round. Voting closes on 15th June and you’ll find the link here https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/awards/
I actually can’t believe that it’s June already, and for small businesses like ours there are the on-going challenges of the current economic climate, with price rises from the majority of our suppliers from ingredients to energy. I am absolutely determined that we stay true to our focus on using high quality ingredients across our menu, rather than look for poorer quality, cheaper alternatives. This in turn means we continue to source from great local suppliers who care as much as we do about their products, and also keeps money in the local economy. Vital for rural areas! We recently added more price flexibility to our menu as well, to give more options for a lighter lunch without sides. Some price rises have been inevitable but we will always strive to keep these to a minimum. Our Summer opening hours are still Thursday-Monday from 9.15 to 3.45 on weekdays and 4.15 on weekdays and bank holidays. If we can staff additional weekday opening during the school holidays we will - let us know your thoughts! We’re looking forward to our tenth anniversary at the beginning of August and hope to share & celebrate with all our VG friends nearer the time. Wishing everyone a brilliant Summer and fine weather! Warmest wishes, Sara & Team VG
